Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy brings up a lot of questions. Here are honest answers to the ones people ask most.

You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If something feels stuck, heavy, or repetitive - whether it is anxiety, a relationship pattern, grief, or simply feeling not like yourself - counselling can help you understand it and move forward. If you are unsure, book a consultation through our online portal to talk it through.

The first session is a conversation to get to know each other. Your counsellor will ask what brought you in and what you are hoping for, and you will begin to map out where to focus. There is no pressure to share anything you are not ready to discuss, and you set the pace throughout.

Yes. Everything you share is confidential, protected by law and professional ethics. There are a small number of legal exceptions - such as risk of serious harm to yourself or others - which your counsellor will explain clearly at the start of your work together.

Sessions are typically around 50 minutes. Many people start weekly to build momentum, then space sessions out as things stabilise. The rhythm is flexible and always shaped around your needs.

We draw on evidence-based, trauma-informed modalities including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), somatic practices, and attachment theory. Rather than forcing one method, we tailor the approach to you and what you are working through.

Yes. Alongside individual counselling, we work with couples using Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) and with families using Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), helping rebuild connection and communication.

As Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC), our services are covered by many extended health plans in BC. Coverage varies, so confirm your specific benefits with your insurer. A receipt is provided for reimbursement.

The easiest way is through our online booking portal. You can schedule a session or consultation at a time that works for you - no phone tag required.
