Mary Stasiuk, MSW, RSW

Mary Stasiuk, MSW, RSW, is a Therapeutic Social Worker who works with individuals, couples, and families. She has worked extensively with university students with visible and invisible disabilities in Toronto and Nanaimo, as well as with parents supporting children experiencing mental health challenges.

Mary’s approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and grounded in curiosity. She believes that some of the parts of ourselves that keep us stuck often developed for good reasons. Rather than judging or trying to get rid of those parts, she helps clients understand them, develop compassion toward themselves, and begin finding different ways forward.

Mary has completed post-graduate training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Advanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindful Self-Compassion, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Gottman Method approaches. She draws from these approaches based on the person, couple, or family sitting across from her rather than expecting everyone to fit within one model of therapy.

At 18, Mary participated in an Indo-Canadian cultural exchange and spent three months living with a host family in rural India. Her family honoured her with the name “Mamta” and even offered to find her a husband, although, as Mary tells it, her chapati-making skills may have gotten in the way. The experience helped shape her curiosity about different cultures, families, and ways of understanding well-being.

As a partner, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and simply a human who has experienced struggles of her own, Mary understands that life can get complicated. She knows walking through the therapy door can feel intimidating and believes that beneath all the clinical terminology, people want to feel heard, understood, and like they belong. That philosophy is what connects her strongly to The Counselling HUB and our foundation of Helping, Understanding, and Belonging.

Mary begins seeing clients at The Counselling HUB on September 14, 2026. Sessions are available in person in Nanaimo and virtually across British Columbia.
